We have successfully completed a number of projects related to the mobility services industry.

Avis Fleet Services fleet management up-skilling project

We have trained almost 300 staff from Avis Fleet Services across southern Africa (including Namibia, Botswana, Lesotho and Mocambique) between January 2008 and August 2008 as part of a fleet management up-skilling project. We are currently providing further training assistance to Avis Fleet Services in short fleet management related courses and workshops.

SAVRALA 2010 Mobility Services project

The Southern African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) recognised the need to develop skills of chauffeurs ahead of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. We were instrumental in assisting SAVRALA with the development of a short skills programme and implementing the programme through various service providers. The pilot phase of the programme, which was funded through THETA, was completed in July 2009 with five unemployed graduates and eleven employed drivers completing the skills development programme. Car Rental firms such as Avis, First Car Rental, Hertz Rent a Car, Imperial Car Rental (Europcar), Imperial Chauffeur Drive and Tempest Car Hire participated in the pilot project.

New qualification in Fleet Management at Southern Business School

In their quest to widen access to training and education in the fleet management and leasing industry, SAVRALA approached Southern Business School (SBS) as provider of formal, accredited, higher education qualifications to offer a National Diploma in Management, majoring in Fleet Management. Mobilitas is assisting SBS with the development of the Fleet Management subjects.

An important feature of the qualification is that it can also be offered as an in-house training programme in association with the Centre for Management Development (CMD), an organisational unit within SBS.
