Mobilitas offers a range of skills programmes, short courses and master classes related to fleet and transport management.

These courses are offered as public courses and we also work with large corporates to customise our course material and offer it as in-house programmes to address specific training and skills development requirements.

Our short course in Fleet Management is offered in partnership with Southern Business School. Upon successful completion of this short course, delegates will receive a certificate from SBS, and will also receive credits towards studying for the the Certificate in Management:Fleet Management at SBS.

Introduction to Fleet Management

This is a 1-day course where delegates will be acquiring a basic understanding of the fleet administration skills required within a supervisory or management of fleet vehicles environment. We also cover the impact of AARTO on fleet operations in this programme.

Operate the Fleet

After attending this 4-day course you should be able to understand and apply the generally accepted appropriate vehicle fleet management principles. Delegates will be able to apply knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, technical and maintenance activities conducive to fleet management, select appropriate vehicles and explain methods of acquisition and financing. Delegates will also be able to execute the fleet management policy of the undertaking.

Delegates that successfully complete the course will achieve the unit standard 113827 “Operate the Fleet”, towards obtaining the national qualification Further Education and Training Certificate: Road Transport Supervision at NQF level 4. The programme is offered in association with TIDASA (Pty) Ltd, a private FET college that specialises in transport supervision and administration training for learners in the transport, traffic, and licensing environment.

Introduction to Green Fleet Management

This is a 1-day course introducing delegates to the concepts and principles of fleet vehicle carbon emissions and how to act responsibly towards the environment.

Road Transport Risk Management

The 4-day course Road Transport Risk Management is a skills programme for road transport supervisors and managers and comprise the following components:
* Manage risk in a road transport operation
* Risk transfer alternatives
* Implement a risk management control system

This course is aligned to the unit standards 255801, “Demonstrate an understanding of risk in a transport function”, 242656 “Apply technical knowledge and skill in order to manage risk in motor vehicle losses due to theft and hijacking”, 242602 “Apply the risk management process to investigate alternatives for risk transfer”, and 123190 “Design and implement a risk management control system”.

Excel techniques for Fleet Management

This is a 2-day course teaching delegates how to use MS Excel to compile statistics and operations information, compare planned with actual activity, identify and interpret variances and disseminate operational information to improve efficiencies in the fleet.

We show users how to compile and control budgets and do Total Cost of Ownership calculations using spreadsheets.

Fleet Carbon Footprint Analyst programme

This programme comprises three courses:
1. Fundamentals of Climate Change
2. Climate Change regulatory framework
3. Measure and verify vehicle related GHG emissions

Fundamentals of Climate Change

This course is intended for people who need to build the knowledge and skills to describe the basic science and identify the corresponding impacts of climate change. The unit brings together basic concepts and an understanding of the impact of climate change issues of a fleet of vehicles.

The course is the first in the series of three that offers competent learners an opportunity in the green economy to become a certified Fleet Carbon Footprint Analyst.

Climate Change regulatory framework

Explain the regulatory framework for environmental management and appreciate the international and national policy background to carbon accounting and management.

The course is the second in the series of three that offers competent learners an opportunity in the green economy to become a certified Fleet Carbon Footprint Analyst.

Measure and verify vehicle related GHG emissions

Understand how to calculate, verify and interpret GHG emissions from fleet vehicles, using the different reports and interpret the results from the GreenFleet Management system. Apply skills to calculate carbon emissions to report data using the Green Fleet Management™ tool.

It is a prerequisite that delegates are currently employed within a transport or fleet management function and possess the knowledge and skills to manage a fleet or supervise a road transport operation.

The course is the third in the series of three that offers competent learners an opportunity in the green economy to become a certified Fleet Carbon Footprint Analyst.

Identify options to reduce GHG emissions from fleet operations

Identify and evaluate options for the fleet operations to reduce an organisation’s carbon footprint. Appreciate the systems, methods and techniques for vehicle operation that deliver carbon emissions reduction. Identify and evaluate low-carbon emission vehicles. Analyse the low-carbon emission vehicles and benefits to fleet carbon emissions reductions. Utilise the Green Fleet Management™ selection tool.

Establish a Fleet Carbon Management Response Plan

Formulate, implement and monitor a fleet policy to address carbon emissions of the fleet. Understand the application of systems and processes that an organisation needs to implement a Fleet Carbon Management Response Plan (FCMRP). Make use of King III guidelines for corporate governance and the JSE’s Integrated Reporting Standard for listed companies in the reporting process.

Evaluate , select and implement a greenhouse gas offsetting program

Identify the framework, processes and activities involved in evaluating, selecting and implementing a greenhouse gas (GHG) offsetting program.

The course is the third in the series of three that offers competent learners an opportunity in the green economy to become a certified Fleet Carbon Footprint Manager.

Mathematics of Fleet Management

This is a 1-day course to teach delegates all the mathematical skills required to succeed as a fleet manager, supervisor controller or procurement officer.

We show delegates how to work with a HP10B-calculator and perform a variety of calculations.

Finance for Fleet Managers

This 2-day course shows delegates how fleet operations impact on the finances of the business. This is an advanced course and we recommend that delegates first complete the following courses:
* Principles of Fleet Management
* Mathematics of Fleet Management

Maintenance management of fleet vehicles

This is a 1-day course for non-technical people responsible for management of company vehicles to teach the principles of vehicle maintenance as it relates to types of maintenance (focusing on preventative maintenance), maintenance programs, risk management, benchmarking and control, the human factor, and managed maintenance (a supplier and customer view)

Fleet Risk Management

The 4-day course Fleet Risk Management is a skills programme for car fleet managers and people responsible for company fleet vehicles. The programme comprise the following components:
* Manage fleet motor vehicle risk
* Risk transfer alternatives
* Implement a risk management control system

This course is aligned to the unit standards 120371, “Apply technical knowledge and skill in order to manage motor vehicle risk”, 242656 “Apply technical knowledge and skill in order to manage risk in motor vehicle losses due to theft and hijacking”, 242602 “Apply the risk management process to investigate alternatives for risk transfer”, and 123190 “Design and implement a risk management control system”.

Forensic investigation of Fleet Management data

This is a 1-day course teaching delegates how to read and interpret fleet management reports provided by fuel card service providers and how to look for suspicious activity in the fleet operation requiring further investigation. This is an advanced course and we recommend that delegates first complete the following courses:

* Excel techniques for Fleet Management

Report writing for Fleet Managers

This is a 2-day course teaching delegates how to write a technical report containing fleet management data and how to make recommendations about the organisation’s fleet.
